My Collection

My aims and goals of my collection are, primarily, to have at least 1 of each character, given how many characters there are this might take a while, and may result in a few re purposed toys as other characters. I currently have 4 Optimuses and have justification for all of them.

My particular collecting goal is a touch irregular among the fandom, some aim for CHUG styled updates of G1 organised by the release date of the original toys, some do that along with the originals themselves, some go for masterpieces, or are exclusively 3rd party collectors, some strive for a complete Unicron trilogy collection, others for a full movie line up via Studio Series, but me, I'm not too hung up on aesthetics or continuity, if I like a toy or want a particular character, then they're valid. I've got the rid Predacons hanging out with the G1 Terrorcons, Cogman is part of the Ark Crew, Galaxy Convoy is in charge of the Technobots, and I'm planning on getting over 26 Constructicons; movie, g1, energon, pcc, adventure etc. there's no consistency and that's the way I like it.

That's how I've always seen transformers, from my earliest memories there's never really been any dividing lines for me, as I got older and read up on the wiki, a whole bunch of artificial walls got put up, but that's never how I played with my toys, back in 2008 I had Animated Megatron and Optimus commanding my movie toys because why not? they're toys at the end of the day, don't let your imagination get bogged down by "Canon" just have fun with it.

The Convoy Family:

This is a little thing I've started doing in my collection where I try to headcanon every Optimus Prime (and every Optimus Prime looking character) into different characters.

It started when I got LG EX Black Convoy AKA Titans Return RID Scourge, at that point I already had both Siege Optimus and Ultra Magnus, and the three of them are Convoys, Optimus is Battle Convoy, Magnus is Powered Convoy, and Scourge is Black Convoy.

Since then I got Galaxy Convoy, Optimus Primal, Fire Convoy, and Earthrise Prime replaced the Siege version as Battle Convoy making Siege Prime into Domitius Major, and most recently God Ginrai.

The Convoy family is my most specific collecting goal, because it's entirely based on my own headcanon regarding the sons of Alpha Trion being based on schematics for a quintesson soldier unit. I wrote about it on twitter once but it was a long time ago so you'll probably have trouble finding it.
